Generic Guide Health publishes plain-English guides on everyday health questions — the symptoms people actually search at 11 p.m., the medicines in the bathroom cabinet, and the point at which something stops being a nuisance and starts needing a doctor.
Why this site exists
Most health information online falls into one of two categories. Either it is written for clinicians and impenetrable, or it is written to rank on Google and says nothing useful. Neither helps someone trying to work out whether their cough is normal.
We try to sit in between: accurate enough to be trusted, plain enough to be read while you feel unwell.
What we cover
- Symptoms — what common symptoms usually mean, and which combinations matter
- Colds, flu, COVID and other infections — timelines, contagiousness, recovery
- Medications — what over-the-counter drugs actually do, and which combinations to avoid
- When to worry — clear thresholds for calling a doctor or going to the emergency room
- Long-term conditions — practical guidance for living with diabetes, asthma and similar

[REPLACE WITH EMILY’S REAL BIO. Include: field of PhD, institution, relevant professional background, and a link to a LinkedIn or institutional profile. Two to four sentences. Be specific — “PhD in Epidemiology, University of X” carries far more weight with readers and with search engines than “PhD”.]
